Dynamat vs. Kilmat: What We Used and Why
May 17, 2026 7 min read
An honest, non-sponsored take after deadening every inch of metal.
We tested both. Here's the honest breakdown.
Dynamat Xtreme
- Heavier. Real butyl. Sticks like death.
- Costs roughly 3x Kilmat per square foot.
- Worth it for the floor, wheel wells, and the doors.
Kilmat
- Lighter butyl, thinner foil.
- Half the price. Easier to work with.
- Fine for ceiling and large flat panels where mass isn't doing much.
Our Mix
Dynamat on the floor, doors, and wheel wells. Kilmat everywhere else. Cut the cost roughly in half without giving up the noise reduction where it mattered.
