Fraser Valley · British Columbia
Built for the Roads That Don't Show Up on Maps.
A 2005 Chevy Astro, BC's backroads, and practical engineering. We don't track Miles Per Gallon — we track Smiles Per Gallon.
Chapter 01 · Philosophy
This is not a van build.
It is an ongoing field test.
Every modification on this Astro is judged against four things. If a mod doesn't earn its keep on all four, it doesn't stay.
Reliability
It has to start every time, and finish every trip.
Comfort
A place to sleep, cook, and stay warm when the weather turns.
Capability
2WD with a plan beats 4WD with an ego.
Maintainability
If we can't fix it on a Forest Service Road, we rethink it.

Chapter 02 · The Humans
Darren & Tanya.
Born in BC. Building in BC.
We're not influencers. We're a couple from the Fraser Valley who wanted a rig that could sleep two, run on regular gas, fit down a washed-out logging road, and still get parked at Save-On on a Tuesday.
MillerVantures is the honest journal — what we tried, what worked, what didn't, and what we learned about the roads BC keeps to itself.

Collapsing Radiator Hose on Cooldown: The Clue That Led Us to the Radiator Cap
The upper hose was sucking flat every time the engine cooled. We didn't assume — we tested. Here is how the radiator cap's vacuum valve entered the picture, and why loosening the cap fixed the symptom while we sourced a replacement.

The Day the Astro Disappeared
Harrison Lake FSR, no itinerary, no reservations. Just curiosity, a hidden campsite, sunbeams breaking through storm clouds, and a van that finally stopped feeling like a project and started feeling like home.
