First Shakedown: Harrison FSR and What We Learned

Jun 2, 2026 6 min read

The lift held. The fridge didn't. Lessons from 48 hours on rough gravel.

We pointed the Astro east out of Chilliwack on a damp Friday morning, half-expecting something to fall off. Nothing did. But plenty of other things went sideways.

The Good

The JOR 7" lift soaked up the washboard better than we hoped. Steering felt tight. The new Bilsteins kept the rear end planted on the off-camber sections past the 30 km mark on Harrison West.

The Bad

Our cheap 12V fridge ate the house battery overnight. Lesson learned: a $200 fridge running off an unmonitored deep cycle is not a system. It's a hope.

The Ugly

We forgot bear spray. We did not see a bear. We got very lucky.
